About Us
What is The Rotary Foundation?
The Rotary Foundation is non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions.
The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth president, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 to having now spent more than $US4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. It has one of the largest and most prestigious international fellowship programs in the world.
The Rotary Foundation Mission
The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
Rotary Areas of Focus
The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation have identified seven areas of focus for their new grant model. These areas reflect critical humanitarian issues and needs that Rotarians are addressing worldwide.
